to the Raleigh Durham Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators. The Raleigh Durham Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators is 30 years in the making and is comprised of 61 members representing 50 legal departments in the Raleigh-Durham area and eastern North Carolina.

In accordance with the core missions of ALA, our goals are to improve the quality of management in the legal services organizations, promote and enhance competencies and professionalism of legal administrators and all members of the management team, and represent professional legal management and managers to the legal community and the community at large.

Our Chapter is focused on selecting current law firm issues and procuring dynamic speakers on these accredited topics. We offer diverse educational sessions, which provide CLM credit and recertification credit in the core competency areas, to attract strong attendance and provide all Chapter members the opportunity to enhance their management skills and level of professionalism.

In addition to our monthly chapter meetings we provide members with information and resources at both the local and national level to increase their awareness of the educational resources available to them. Examples include the annual Salary and Benefits Survey, hosting ALA webinars, and purchase of National ALA’s Educational Conference materials.

Our strategy is a collaborative effort of the Chapter’s Board, Committee Members and Business Partners of the legal community. We seek to increase our visibility in the marketplace by collaborating and networking with our Business Partners, professionals and experts in the legal community, by creating awareness, creditability and prestige for our profession.

We welcome your participation and membership in our Chapter!

CLM Support The Chapter also supports interest in pursuing the Certified Legal Manager (CLM) exam. The Chapter provides numerous resources and books to further the professional goals of its members including: Cyber Study Group membership, purchase of the 2013 National Educational Conference sessions and monthly participation in ALA’s webinar series.

Regional Conference: The 2013 Regional Conference is being held in Memphis TN. The RDU Chapter encourages continual self-development and education.; In support of that effort, our members will receive a $150 stipend towards the registration fee which opens in July.

Networking opportunities: The Chapter offers numerous opportunities to network with other members and its business partners. To accommodate all schedules, RDU offers several events during the day as well as several socials that occur in the evening. All our events are opportune times to interact with your peers and make worthwhile connections. Business Partners are often invited to our events and provide tremendous insight and additional value.

Business Partner Relationships: The right products and services are key to successful legal administration. The Chapter promotes positive relationships with our business partners. Without their support many of the programs provided to members would not be possible. Our current Business Partner Sponsorship Program allows vendors to support the Chapter at various levels and in turn participate in select Chapter events. Business Partner participation provides members with the opportunity to learn about the products and services that can help them accomplish their goals. Once a year Business Partners are invited to exhibit at our Business Partner Vendor Fair and Appreciation Dinner. Approximately 25 vendors participate each year.

Member Mentor Program: It is widely recognized that we can all learn from others, and we can all teach others. Our goal is to shorten the learning curve of our members and help them succeed at whatever they desire. It is our hope that this program will provide ideas, inspiration, and practical experience for each of our chapter members.
